So is this Sam’s kid from a previous relationship/adopted? Because this FC has no African ancestry and, FYI, Mercedes is black…
Actually, she does. She is part Puerto Rican. Her mother is. And since I’m half Puerto Rican myself, I know for a fact she has African ancestry. The Puerto Ricans came from the Spaniards, Tainos (Native Americans), and the Africans. Yes, her father is German, Irish, and French, but that doesn’t take away from her African ancestry. Just because you don’t see it on the outside, doesn’t mean it ain’t there. Also Mercedes (Amber Riley) may be African American, but I bet if you trace her bloodline, there maybe other ethnicities involved. Because if you are an African American born in the US, you got other mixtures somewhere deep down inside. My other half is AA, but my great great great great… Grandfather is actually European (white). I also have Blackfoot Indian in my fam too. DNA is weird and if you mix a whole lot of ethnicities together, you come out with something you least expect.
Well, technically, we all “have” African ancestry since humanity began there; and I know very well how mixed up people of African descent in the Americas can be. So, I didn’t know Victoria Justice is half Puerto Rican (or a quarter, since I don’t know her mother’s racial background within her Puerto Rican heritage); but unless her mother is a Puerto Rican with recent African ancestry, my point will stand - which is Mercedes’ kids are still being whitewashed in this fandom on a consistent basis. And while I know children of racially mixed unions can come in all shades, this fandom isn’t nearly that nuanced or considerate on how to actually blend these various racial/ethnic/religious considerations into these next gen rpgs. That is my issue. If I thought a rper would play these white-presenting children with care and consideration of their blended backgrounds, I wouldn’t be nearly as annoyed by the consistent brightening/erasure of obvious African ancestry in Mercedes’ kids.
I’m getting just a tad sick of seeing people bitch about this fictional couples kids not looking ethnic enough. I have two beautiful girls who have an Italian father and most days when I walk down the street with them people question if they are really my kids. Stood next to him they look more golden, next to me they appear pale. Not every mixed race child is going to be obviously mixed, get the fuck over it.
Again, not exactly my point; but this is a trigger topic for you so I accept and appreciate that. But you get to raise your kids with the knowledge of who they are. These rpgs aren’t going to do that, and that is why it bothers me.
I get that, I apologize for seeming as if my comment was solely directed toward you and your opinion. It wasn’t. I’m just sick of seeing the complaints on my dash all the time from every-which-way. Most of the people playing these characters probably should just give up if they can’t even be arsed to attempt a proper portrayal of a mixed race child/couple. This is why I refuse to follow rpgs because most of them just give me tension headaches.
WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?
Oh my god hahaha
What is this from?! J Jonah what are you doing?!
Deleted scene from Spider-Man 2. My favorite thing about it is that it was deleted because J.K. Simmons was unexpectedly too buff and just didn’t look laughable enough in the suit.
